When is the best time to fish in Islamorada?
This site has no source for a best month, so it does not name one. Six operators have now been read for this site, but for who they are rather than for a calendar, so there is still nothing here to quote and nothing borrowed from elsewhere. What is on this page instead is why that matters and what to ask in its place.
Why this page has no calendar
Every competing site has one. They are confident and pretty, and most of them cite nothing.
The honest reason is narrower than it was. Six Islamorada operators have now been read for this site — see the operator page — but that scan was looking for who exists, which fisheries they name and how they take bookings. NOBODY HAS READ THEM FOR A SEASONAL CALENDAR. So there is still nothing to quote, and this page will not fill the gap by inference.
The dishonest fix was available and was not taken. A sister site to this one covers Key West, 80 miles down the chain, and it does carry a calendar — one operator's, quoted, dated, with the two places their own page contradicts itself both reported. Pointing that table at Islamorada would have taken about a minute. The species are the same. The months would have looked entirely plausible. Nothing on the page would have appeared wrong, which is precisely the objection: it would have been a measurement of somebody else's water wearing this town's name.
What a calendar would have to say before it goes here
Three things, and the first one is the one nobody publishes.
Whose it is. A named operator, linked, with the date the page was read. An unattributed calendar cannot be checked and cannot be argued with, which is not a small failing — it is the entire failing.
Which water it describes. This town fishes two of them. Florida Bay and the backcountry run to their own rhythm; the reef line and the Gulf Stream to another. A table that does not say which side it means has skipped the question that decides your booking.
How thin the evidence is. If one operator of ten publishes a calendar, the page says one of ten. If several do and they disagree, the page shows the disagreement rather than averaging it — an average of three guesses reads as authority and is less checkable than any one of them.
The two questions worth asking instead
These need no calendar and they get a better answer than one.
Ask what is running the week you arrive. Whoever you are speaking to is on the water and this page is not. Ask two operators and see whether they say the same thing — where they disagree is usually the part that was never settled.
Then ask what they would book if they were you, given those dates. A good one will tell you when your week suits a different fishery than the one you called about. That sentence is worth more than any twelve-month table, and you cannot get it from a website.

When is the best time to fish in Islamorada?
This site will not tell you, because it has read no source for it. Six operators have now been scanned, but for who they are and what water they fish rather than for a month-by-month calendar — so there is still nothing here to quote, and nothing borrowed from elsewhere and relabelled. The people who can answer it are the ones on the water that week. Ask two of them and see whether they agree.
Why does every other site have a twelve-month calendar and this one does not?
Because a twelve-month calendar is easy to write and hard to check. Fill in the gaps between the months anybody actually knows and the result reads exactly like research. That is the problem: a fabricated month and a verified one look identical on the page, so the confident version is not more useful than the empty one, it is only more convincing. This page will carry a calendar when it can name whose it is and the day it was read.
Is there a bad time to fish here?
Nothing this site has read supports calling any month bad. The species mix shifts through the year rather than switching off, so a month that is wrong for one fishery is often right for another — which is why the useful question is not "when should I come" but "given the week I am coming, what should I book".
What about closed seasons?
Closures are a different thing from runs, and they matter more to your day, because a closure decides what you may keep. Some species close for part of the year and reopen, the dates are re-set annually, and they differ between state and federal water. This site publishes none of them. Check FWC before you book and ask the operator what is open the week you are coming.
Does the Atlantic side and the bay side run on the same calendar?
That is exactly the kind of question this site will not answer without a source, and it is worth raising because it shows how thin a single calendar is here. Islamorada fishes two different bodies of water — Florida Bay and the backcountry on one side, the reef line and the Gulf Stream on the other. A month-by-month table that does not say which side it describes is answering a question it has not asked.
